Traffic on E. 9th and Euclid Ave. - Today

|
|
Original Photo Description - "E. 9th + Euclid Ave., 1909 Buick. John Lane, Fred C. Crawford."
Today's Photo - Not too much difference when you look closely. The building on the left foreground is still standing, with updates to it's facade. Notice the curvature of the building's corner. The buildings behind it are all still standing, except the 3rd one in the row. Today it's a parking lot. The streetlamps looked MUCH better in 1945! The streetcars no longer exist, I need to research when they stopped the streetcar line. There is talk of bringing it back, but who knows?

This begins my Cleveland, Then and Now project. I am taking photos from an archive of images in the Cleveland area, and as best as I can, take the same photo today. The majority of the old images I am using come from Cleveland State University's Cleveland Memory Project website.
I will post any info i have on the photos and my comments here.
This should be a very interesting project for me, so expect to see quite a few installments!
Original Photo Description - "Looking west along the north side of Euclid Avenue towards East 9th Street; Hickox Building is in the middle of the image."
Today's Photo - The National City Center building now sits on the site of the old Hickox Building (skyscraper w/ the blue windows).

Geocaching is a relatively new "sport" that's part GPS navigating and part spelunking. There are caches hidden all over the world and their locations are revealed only as GPS coordinates. It may sound easy but the caches are often hard to find and difficult to get to, even when you know exactly where they are hidden! See this geocaching site if you would like to learn more about geocaching. This is cache GC2BC8 located at N 41° 37.002 W 081° 31.281 (UTM: 17T E 456565 N 4607352).
