Jen, an old friend of mine, was in town on business so of course we had to get together. We called up some other friends and all of us being fans of sushi (except Ray, this was his first time hehe) we all met at Pacific East, the best sushi joint in Greater Cleveland. A good time was had by all.

i meant "just as long as it's MOOOVIN"

16th Annual Geriatric Medicine Conference, Salt Fork Lodge, OH

Arriving at Salt Fork
Siu Yan's meeting w/ the Salt Fork staff
View all 82 photos...
Fall brings on a tradition with geriatric medicine and it occurs annually at Salt Fork Lodge and Resort in Cambridge, Ohio. Tens of doctors skilled in geriatric medicine come from all over the state to meet, learn new tools and catch up on the latest in practice.

As Progam Coordinator for the Western Reserve Geriatric Education Center, it was my duty to coordinate this annual event. Thanks to all the wonderful and hardworking staff at Salt Fork and our very own staff, Hedy, Niki and Michele for their own committment to help make this event a success. With teamwork, anything is possible!

Of course, a great big thank you goes to my husband for being constantly by my side, volunteering and running to fetch and move things. He also took these pictures because I certainly didn't have the time! After the conference, he forced me to take a hike, literally, as I had not been able to enjoy the beautiful outdoors until then.

- Siu Yan

Gorgeous shots - congrats Siu Yan, on all your hard work and planning! Dorjan - you're a great photographer, but you're wrong for taking that candid shot of Siu Yan sleepin'! Thu 28-Oct-2004 17:12

Moving Day!

First, we had to pack!
No we're not hoarders! Moved everything to 1 room :)
But finally got everything packed
View all 19 photos...
At last, the big move from our apartment of 4 years to our first house. Not so many pictures, but enough to capture the moment. I also took the last photos ever of the old apartment before i closed up and gave back the keys. Lots of memories there but we were ready to move on. I will miss the view!

Many, many thanks to Anne Marie, who drove all the way from Windsor, Canada to help us move! And thanks to Leanne and Bert and my folks, who also gave us a big hand.

Yes, HUGE big THANKS to Ann Marie, Leanna/Bert, Pat/Papps! And our neighbor Lan Fu too for lending us a little wheelie cart thing.

Looking at these pics make the move seem a LOT smoother, I had to have a screaming/yelling fit with some doods that took over our elevator time and the oh-so-not-so-wonderful Watergate security guards don't know how to work with management or leasing office (or is that really a management issue). I am so tired of that place and I will use any public medium to say how terrible Watergate and AERC management is. They even charged us for BASIC wear and tear an even though we asked for a work order and they can't find it, it's our fault that they lost it...does THAT make sense?

Otherwise, we are NOT hoarders! I can't believe we were able to pack in that tiny apt. I'm so glad that move is over!!

Our Summer Grand Finale

Ashley fell asleep on the way to Goodtimes
We started off the day w/ a go-kart ride
whee!
View all 37 photos...
We decided to celebrate the end of summer w/ two company events: A Red Cross outing at Goodtimes, and a Cleveland Indian's game with my co-workers in some great dugout suites provided by the Owner/CEO of the Cleveland Indians and also a member of our Board of Directors.

We brought my niece Ashley along because she is a lot of fun and these were all new things for her, she had a blast as you can see.

Many thanks to Kathy at the Red Cross for organizing the Goodtimes outing and many thanks to Mr. Dolan of the Cleveland Indians for those wonderful dugout suites!!!

You guys had a blast, thanks for taking good care of my baby Thu 30-Sep-2004 15:41

Trackday at Beaverun Motorports Complex

Heading off to Pennsylvania

Our motel for the night
View all 19 photos...
Siu Yan and I went for our last trackday of the season with some friends of ours, Bert ,Leanne and Tim. This was Leanne's first trackday and you can read all about that on their motogirlz website.

Beaverun is a great track! Some nice technical turns, lots of shifts in elevation, and plenty of room to pick up speed as well. I managed to improve my skills a lot through the course of the day. Tim looked pretty good out there on the track. Siu Yan did great as well, she's almost ready to move out of the novice groups and into the intermediate groups. Leanne is now hooked on trackdays and Bert had a great time as well. Can't wait till next year when we can do some more!

looks like it was a perfect day for some serious biking.. glad you had a good time Mon 20-Sep-2004 19:29

Mystery Watch

My mother-in law found this watch while cleaning out her garage. I did some research and this is what I do know about it:

Made in 1977 (serial number begins with 77)

A Vostok (Boctok) brand watch made for the Soviet Army - The inscription "3AKA3 MO CCCP" means "Order of the Ministry of Defense of USSR".

The black face usually means it was made for an armored division or tank division.

What I DON'T know:

What the inscription underneath the red star says.

Who that guy is on the watchband!

Why the numbers are in 10 minute increments only, the action is like a stopwatch but there is no start/stop mechanism, everything else is pure wristwatch.

I think this is a pretty authentic Soviet Army watch from the 1970's but I'd like to find out for sure! If anybody knows anything about this watch please leave a comment

hey dude. i have this soviet watch too. not exactly the same tho. i got it from my dad many many years back. he was working in a shipyard then and got the watch from some russian fellas who docked their ship in my country.

Details:

-shared the same initial that lies just at top of the needles. it starts with K right?
- i have that "B" letter on my watch as well.
- the red star on my watch is located where your no. 60 is.
- the watch needs to be winded to operate.
- there's a picture of a russian tank below the red star on my watch.
- my serial no is 490924 (does that mean its a 1949 made watch?)

alrite dude, i shall post the pic of my watch someday for ur viewing.

The guy on the wristband is Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space.. He flew on the space Vostok 1. The Cyrillic inscriptions under the red star is "Chistopol", the place where the Vostok watch factory is located.
